Pixel RPG for mobile
Endless Grades: Pixel Saga is a free role-playing game for mobile devices coming from developer Lightcore Games. In this retro pixel adventure, players will choose from a roster of diverse heroes and form a team to take a dangerous fantasy world. It combines idle mechanics and strategic elements for its gameplay.
Similar to Another Eden and VoC: The Isle Dragon Roars, Endless Grades: Pixel Saga boasts an anime-inspired art style and aesthetics. There are over 100 heroes to collect through the game's gacha system, and a more casual approach to gameplay that will be ideal for pick-up-and-play.
Old-school charm
Endless Grades: Pixel Saga is essentially an idle gacha game with a retro pixel art style. In it, you take charge of a group of heroes — one at the beginning — as you go on adventures to fight monsters and look for treasure chests. Over time, you get to add to your roster of knights, allowing you to create a diverse team for all kinds of enemies and situations.
Combat and gameplay in this RPG revolves around idle mechanics. Your heroes will automatically fight enemies, as they level up and collect gold. Once you've built up their strength, you can opt to take on the stage boss and if successful, will let you move on to the next stage. It's a simple gameplay loop but requires time and strategy to pull off.
Unlike other similar games that have a per-hero level system, it employs an account level system, which basically means leveling will apply to all your heroes, old and new. Now, one of the main issues with these types of games is the lack of variety and short-term appeal. Unfortunately, this game also falls into this kind of problem. Hopefully, future updates can help address this.
Pretty but a bit shallow
All in all, if you like idle games, Endless Grades: Pixel Saga is a beautiful pixel RPG worth considering. It offers a large roster of heroes to collect and combat requires some level of strategy to defeat stage bosses. Hopefully, more content gets added in the future to keep things fresh and interesting. Check it out and see for yourself.
